How many photos will we get? Can we get all the RAW files too?

About 4 - 6 weeks after your wedding date, you will receive a private downloadable online gallery of hi-resolution, color-corrected and edited finished images.
I deliver approximately 50 finished images per hour of wedding day coverage. So, if for example you selected 8 hours of wedding day coverage (my BASIC package), your online gallery will contain a minimum of 400 images.

You might hear others say :
“But X photo studio delivers 2000 photos for $1200!”
(I'd ask: what is the *quality* at that quantity?)
Or, you may wonder:
"Didn't Adrienne shoot more than 50 images per hour at our wedding?”
(Yes. Yes, I did.)

SO: Why don't (good) photographers just deliver ALL the photos?
HINT: It's NOT because we are big meanies, I promise!

When it comes to curating the final number of wedding photographs, LESS is MORE, and “more” is definitely NOT better. After months (years?) of stressful wedding planning, and the whirlwind that is the wedding day itself, the LAST thing you want is for some “photographer” to Dropbox you a folder of 3,729 jpegs which YOU now have to slog through and sort, sifting through duplicate shots, hunting for the “keepers”, deleting the blinks and blurries, and trying to bring order to the chaos.

As a professional wedding photographer, my hardest work begins *after* you cut the cake and the DJ plays “Last Dance”; culling, curating, and editing hundreds of RAW files down to a concise collection of beautiful wedding photographs takes dozens of hours. Armed with both the software to process RAW files and the keen eye to tell the “keepers” from the rejects, I bring the full scope of my expertise to crafting your gallery.

As for requesting the RAWs, unless you're also a professional photographer, you would have neither the software nor the skillset to process hundreds of RAWs. And if you *are* a professional photographer, then you know never to ask for the RAWs, and you appreciate all the work your hired photographer puts into post production. ;)

Can we add extra hours of coverage on the wedding day?

Yes. While I work with my couples to suggest the best package for their unique wedding day timeline, you may decide on the day-of that you want additional coverage: perhaps your entire wedding party ran late due to transportation delays, or reception dancing is raging on into an impromptu after-party.

For all packages, you may add on coverage hours at a rate of $300/hr for main photographer (ie: Adrienne).
Maximum of 12 hours total for the event / day.

Do we have to order prints through you?

No, you are free to print your own wedding photos for personal use, post them to social media, and share them with family and friends. All of my packages include a Digital Print Release granting you permission to use your images in the above ways.

However, many clients still choose to order prints and / or albums through me for a few reasons:

I can design and print your albums artfully and quickly, which means less work for you designing albums or choosing proper print sizes.

Also, I work with high-end album / print vendors (including locally-owned options) to ensure the best quality of all products. If something is not right with a print product, I handle all the returns, reprinting, etc. Again: less work for you, and more assurance of a high quality heirloom album / print box.

And finally, the modest commission / markup built into my album and print prices is part of my income as a small business owner: when you order through me instead of self-printing at Costco, you are helping to support my business. Thank you!

Where do you shoot / how far do you travel?

As a Long Island wedding photographer, I am based in Nassau county, and I cover the entire island from Queens to the East End. I am also available as an NYC wedding photographer for events in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the NYC metro area.

If you are located outside these areas, seeking NJ wedding photography, CT wedding photography, or New England wedding photography, please contact me. While I can't guarantee travel ability, I'd love to learn more about your event and see if we can find a way to work together. Travel fees apply.

What kind of gear do you use?

Currently, I shoot with "double cameras" on a holster (for faster candid captures and fewer lens changes): I use two Canon 5D Mark IV DSLR (full frame) bodies, with two main prime lenses, the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 and the Sigma 85mm f/1.4. I shoot natural light wherever possible, but also use bounced on-camera speedlights (mostly in darker venues or during evening receptions).

Importantly, I have BACK-UPS of all my camera gear (extra bodies, lenses, flashes, batteries, etc).

Are you vaccinated?

Yes. I am fully-vaccinated against COVID-19, and I comply with all current pandemic guidance, best practices, and restrictions. As of early 2023, I have received 5 total Moderna COVID vaccine doses: 2 initial doses, 2 boosters, and 1 bivalent booster. I also remain up to date with all flu shots and other recommended vaccines. I am happy to wear a mask at the request of my couples; otherwise, I usually work without a mask, frequently sanitize my hands, and self-monitor / self-test before and after weddings.

My deepest sympathy goes to all who have lost loved ones to this pandemic, and I will continue to follow all current scientific guidance to protect my couples and myself.

Are you inclusive and ethical?

Yes: I proudly support marriage equality, and the LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, Disabled, Neurodivergent, and Fat Positive communities. I myself belong to some of these communities, and I work to be an ally to those whose experience I don’t directly share. I encourage couples in these communities to contact me with any questions, and to communicate with me throughout our work together about your pronouns, needs, and any accommodations I can provide.

I never turn down any couples on the basis of any protected class, and I condemn the actions of any vendors who use discriminatory practices.

When interviewing couples to determine compatibility of my services and their photography needs, I consider only event details (dates, location(s), number of guests, budget for photography, etc), and / or the couple's desired style of images (posed vs. candid, number of group portraits requested, etc.), and never base my offerings, communication, nor decision whether to move forward with booking on any protected class characteristics.

Can you use Photoshop to make us / our families look _____-er?

No, I never drastically alter any individual's appearance; I sometimes use retouching to remove small background elements, or to clone away that fuzzball that stuck your suit jacket. But I never use Photoshop to make people look like fundamentally different than they do. And I don't need to: the JOY of your wedding day, the beauty of natural light, and my intentional composition and framing will all ensure that you look your BEST, while still looking like YOURSELF.

Ethically, people of all ages, body types, and abilities have a right to be represented artfully and beautifully through documentary photography. I don’t believe in making “older” people look “younger”, nor in making “larger” people look “smaller”, as I reject the notion that one way of being is inherently better than any other way of being. It is my honor and joy to capture you as you truly are, smiling, laughing, connecting with the people you love most. When your descendents look back at your wedding photos 50 years from now, no one will be concerned about the size of your upper arms or whether your MIL had wrinkles.

My approach: grandma will look like grandma, your cousin who uses a wheelchair will be captured popping wheelies on the dance floor, and your partner’s adorably-crooked smile will still be adorably-crooked in your wedding photos.

Can you re-create these epic wedding photographs from our Pinterest moodboard?

Generally speaking, I don’t "recreate" (let’s be real: copy) the wedding photographs of other photographers or take inspiration from Pinterest.

First, I want to document the true story of YOUR day as it unfolds, rather than pulling you away from your guests to imitate artificial staged photographs (many of which may have been taken at “styled shoots” rather than at real weddings, but I digress). While there are some beautiful editorial wedding photographs out there, highly-staged magazine style images are the opposite of my authentic candid documentary wedding photography approach.

Second, intentionally copying the work of other artists is not cool. True, photography is everywhere and we are all (myself included) shaped by the images we have seen in our culture, but deliberately attempting to recreate the work of other living artists does not align with my ethics. Rather than seeking inspiration on Pinterest, I’m more interested in old photography books, museum exhibitions, even the cinematography of my favorite film makers.

If you are using Pinterest to create moodboards and visual references for your wedding day (a totally valid and helpful approach, which I also used while planning my own wedding), I am happy to glance at your boards to get a quick idea of your visual aesthetics for your big day. However, to best serve my couples and to respect the work of other photographers, I refrain from directly “re-creating” shots.

***I also avoid “re-creating” my OWN shots from previous weddings, not because doing so would be any kind of plagiarism (it wouldn’t), but rather because every couple and every wedding are different, and I want to tell an AUTHENTIC story, not just repeat the same shots for every wedding.
